My research focuses on how plant chemistry shapes interactions between plants and insects, and how these processes can be harnessed for sustainable agriculture. As a chemical ecologist, I integrate metabolomics, nutritional ecology, quantitative genetics, and analytical chemistry to unravel the mechanisms underlying host plant selection by herbivorous insects. I am particularly interested in the ecological and evolutionary dynamics of plant chemistry, from phylometabolomics to within-plant allocation strategies, and in how both mutualistic and antagonistic insect interactions drive the evolution of chemical traits. Beyond fundamental insights, my work aims to translate these findings into strategies for more sustainable management of crop pests.
